Floral Media Garden School Launched

Wednesday 30th September 2009

Floral Media officially launched its Garden School to a gathering of invited guests which included local dignitaries, business associates, community leaders and other interested parties.

Based close to Newark, the Garden School is a new purpose-built facility offering workshops, talks, demonstrations and courses within the horticultural sector. In addition, corporate, public sector and community groups may benefit from the School which is an ideal meeting venue located in a peaceful rural setting.
The venture is both exciting and unique. Guest speaker at the launch - Nick Hamilton – endorsed the project. The son of Geoff Hamilton of BBC Gardeners World fame, Nick runs Barnsdale Gardens in Rutland where his father originally filmed Gardeners World. With a lifelong passion and enthusiasm for gardening, he offered inspiration and encouragement.
Nick highlighted the importance of learning. He commented “A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. This is a tremendous facility and will give gardeners a wonderful opportunity to expand their knowledge base”.

Located within Floral Media’s existing nursery, the Garden School is set in five acres of landscaped and produce gardens alongside pasture land. Here practical sessions can be offered to enhance any theory studied at the School.

Proprietors Steven and Paula Routledge have over 20 years experience in the horticultural/floristry sector and aim to provide a relaxed and safe learning environment for private groups of learners with varying needs. “Both Steven and Paula not only have a passion for horticulture but the gift of being able to relate to people” said Nick “this connection allows them to share their depth of knowledge and transfer skills to others”.

Councillor Bryan Richardson – Chairman of Newark & Sherwood District Council – officially opened the School.
